A gorgeous & very rare Georgian mahogany chest on chest.
The rarity is that this piece of furniture only has the one large drawer in the lower section. Most chest on chest pieces from the Georgian era would have 2 or possibly 3 drawers in the lower section.
The top section has 2 smaller drawers with 2 full width drawers below.
I salvaged this from a recycle centre and gave it a full structural restoration before painting in “Nero Di Vite Di Germania” pigment over a rusty red clay based undercoat.
The ageing process was then created by delicately removing areas of the black pigment with a natural sponge and soaked in water.
It was then given a coat of water based Velum wax and a further coat of solid wax before being finished with talc to create a smooth satin finish.
This really is a fantastic statement piece of furniture that would look great in any setting from a bedroom to a drawing room.
