Original brass closing fixture and a useful centre shelf inside and a small narrow plinth at the base to sit on.
I have painted this using centuries old paints which has produced the very unique crackled look to the top coat revealing the rusty red undercoat. As with all my furniture this was cleaned sanded and woodworm treated before being worked on.
